Julian Groups evolved out of the need for a listening, meditative dimension of prayer to be a part of Christian worship and there are 300 of these contemplative prayer groups around the country, named after Julian of Norwich, a 14th century spiritual writer with a message of love and hope.
There are two Julian Groups in this parish, based on the listening meditative type of prayer. They are open to anyone who would like to find a different way of enjoying being in God’s presence. The meetings last 30 minutes and begin with a brief reading, followed by a short period of silence and a closing prayer. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our meetings:
- The St Barnabas’ Julian Group meets at 11am on the second Monday of the month in the St Barnabas’ Chapel (upstairs), and is run by Don.
- The St Nicholas’ Julian Group meets at 2.30pm on the second Thursday of the month. Gill (pictured) runs the group so turn left at the altar in St Nicholas’ (called the North Transcept or Lady Chapel) to find the group.
