WWI Centenary Commemoration at St Nicholas – 04/08/14

Special Services

On Monday 4th August from 5pm to 11pm at St Barnabas, Pound Hill and St Nicholas, Worth there will be a series of readings, musical tributes, prayers and spaces for reflection as we mark the Centenary Anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. As War still impacts humanity in different areas of the world today this will be a space to note the devastating impact that First World War had upon a generation. Please do join us at anytime throughout the evening – to light a candle or to share your stories or just to come, sit, listen and be. We will close at 11pm as we blow out the last candle to echo the famous phrase of that night in 1914 that ‘the lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time’.
