Ian, who works in our churchyard maintenance team, writes:
Due to the current situation, the churchyard at St Nicholas’ will now be left to naturalise – good for nature, but not for access to graves. With both and our volunteering at Nymans Gardens on hold, and with a spell of good weather, we have had no excuses for not getting our own garden ship-shape.
So the spring jobs that we have been doing include:
- Strengthening the fence panels following the battering they received from Ciara, Dennis and Jorge
- Dead-heading daffodils
- General weeding and tidying of the borders and lawn
- Digging the vegetable patch
- Sowing flower and veg seeds in the hope that we have a summer to enjoy – but we will need both some rain as well as sunshine !
