Choir Gears Up for Choral Evensong

Choirs and Music

We’d love you to come along to Choral Evensong this Sunday, 26 February at 6.30pm.  Sung by Worth Choir and Directed by Alex Hiam, music will include
Preces and Responses by William Byrd, Canticles in D Minor by Walmisley, and the anthem “A Litany” by William Walton.

If you are not accustomed to this traditional service, it is one that has been sung regularly in Church since the Sixteenth Century, and was based on the Services held daily in the medieval church.  It’s the high proportion of music in Evensong which distinguishes it from other church services.
It is free to come to hear its choral music, performed live and to a high standard and The Guardian calls Evensong “One of England’s richest heritages – a living musical tradition that costs nothing to experience live.” –
